The violin is a fine instrument, original in all its major parts and in good physical and functional condition. It is light-weight and hand crafted to a very good standard. By studying the design and construction of the violin it was possible to discern that the violin is European in origin (ostensibly Vogtland), and made approximately 175 years ago. The violin is oil varnished and is a dark tobacco brown colour, with darkened edges.
The condition of the violin is very good for its age and the varnish has developed a beautiful patina during its life. The violin is now freshly set-up and serviced, is ready for playing, and has an exceptionally beautiful sound, with a clear and resonant voice which has matured as the violin has aged. Beautiful tonewoods shape the identity of this instrument, which has been carefully restored by Phil Whitehead and we offer it to you in superb condition.
