E.A Burr violin number 77, made in Wellington, New Zealand 1924.
Edward Albert Burr (1862 - 1938) was based in Wellington, and was arguably New Zealand's first professional violin maker. He produced his first violin in 1900 but it was after his retirement that he dedicated his time to producing violins and cellos. Burr was prolific, making over 155 violins and six cellos throughout his career. Among those who used his instruments were Zillah Castle and Vivienne Blamires.
This violin is presented in top showroom condition, and in immaculate playing condition. Superb tone. With new pegs, new Larsen Tzigane strings, new professional Despiau bridge, new soundpost, new tailpiece and chinrest.
