Beautiful antique French cello, made in Mirecourt France circa 1880
The name "Nicolas Bertholini" was used to categorise Mirecourt's highest grade instruments. the internal label is well aged and reads "Nicolas Bertholini, Luthier de S.M. l'Empereur, et de la cour de France, Fecit anno 1810. Hand carved from well seasoned European timbers for the most warm, rich and satisfying tone. In the upper areas bright, clear, open, singing - In the lower areas mature, and full of noble character!
The cello is now well restored to great condtion with new swiss ebony pegs, new ebony fingerboard. Professionally setup with a Despiau bridge and fitted with Larsen Soloist strings to add a level of richness & warmth to the overall brilliance of this cellos sound.
