Beautiful old professional level cello, made in England circa 1760 - 1800.
Well loved, and owned by the same person for over fifty years, we are lucky to have a good record of this cello's history before it was brought to New Zealand. It was fully restored in 1985 at the reputable 'Highfield Violins' in Birmingham England, and we still have the original document with the full description of the work performed. The original receipt for this restoration is well detailed and includes a full neck reset, new bass bar, edges of front restored, all previous cracks repaired and loose seams reglued. The peg holes bushed to save original boxwood pegs, These original restoration documents mention the age of the cello to be made between years 1760-1800.
This is a professional grade cello, lightweight, resonant, and with a truly wonderful tone. Desirably deep and rich low notes, with harmonious and sweet high notes.
