Gotz Peg Compound

"Don’t be pressured into following what’s considered to be the norm. If you’re going to choose a profession like being a musician or an artist, you just have to remain true to who you are. I really believe that if you’re sincere and genuine about something, it will work out in the end. " -Diana Yukawa

The Gotz Peg Compound is great for pegs that either slip loose OR are too stiff/tight.  Suitable for violins, violas and cellos.

Pegs are made from wood, a natural and porous substance.  Peg tightness/looseness is due to pegs sensitivity to changes in humidity, climate and temperature.

- Semi-soft peg compound
- Made in Germany

To apply peg compound, remove the string from the peg, and slide the peg out of the scroll. Apply a small amount of peg compound to the part of the peg that contacts the scroll and reinsert the peg. Turn the peg a few times to make sure it turns smoothly. Wipe off any excess peg compound before restringing the peg.  Repeat if necessary.

If it is still not possible to smoothly turn the pegs, please contact your luthier for further help.
